"PLAYGIRL" is Lolo Zouaï's sophomore album, released on October 14, 2022. The album has three representative characters, pl4yg1rl, who represents tracks 1, 6, 7 & 13, dreamgirl, whose tracks are 2, 5, 8, 9 & 12 & partygirl, whose tracks are 3, 4, 10 & 11.
Background
The songs Galipette and Scooter were first rumored to be a part of Lolo's second album, but Lolo confirmed that none of the songs from the album where out yet. She then announced the first single from the album, Give Me a Kiss on April 21, 2022. The second single from the album, Blur was later announced on June 17, 2022.
A few months later, the album was teased through the promotional website, pl4yg1rl.com with the text "R U READY TO PLAY?". Lolo also tweeted a picture with the caption, "r u ready to play? see you tomorrow" on September 8, 2022 which appears to showcase 3 different character in boxes.
At exactly 12 PM EST, September 10, 2022, the album's official trailer was posted across all of Lolo's social media platforms with the caption, "PLAYGIRL. THE ALBUM.✨💻💙🧸💖🎧💚✨ lolo is ready to chat… More next week 🕹". The trailer showcased a longer snippet of pl4yg1rl along with 3 characters along it, pl4yg1rl, partygirl and lastly dreamgirl along with the text, "PLAYGIRL the album by Lolo Zouaï, coming th1s f4ll". The numbers 1 and 4 were used to indicate the album release date. A countdown was later added and Lolo later announced the final single, pl4yg1rl release date on September 13, 2022. She also added that the release was more than just the just the song's release. At 12 PM EST, September 14, 2022, when pl4yg1rl was released, Lolo posted the album cover with the caption:
I can’t believe its all finally happening. After my first album I genuinely thought I couldn’t make another. It took me a long time to understand what I wanted to say with my music while I was growing and changing with the world. Now that it’s coming out I can finally say that I’m SO SO proud of what we made and all the work put in to creating this record. I love it with all my heart & hope you will too :)

The album comes with 13 songs, each represented by the 3 characters. The pre-save site teases 3 brand new snippets from the album which is also represented into the 3 different characters, pl4yg1rl, partygirl and dreamgirl. According to the character dreamgirl, her favorite song on it is "the soft & dreamy ones...tracks 2, 5 and 12". Lolo also designed the 8 bit icons for the characters on the site.
On September 29, 2022, Lolo posted an Official Lyric Video Chat for pl4yg1rl which contained icons that represented each songs in the album.
On October 1, 2022, Lolo Zouaï performed three unreleased songs which are VHS, Crazy Sexy Dream Girl and Picking Berries at The Greek Theatre Show as an opening for The Marías. Few days prior to her performance, she had announced a special PLAYGIRL Listening Event which gave early access to fans to hear the full album. The tracklist was later revealed on October 7, 2022 along with the back cover for the album.
On October 11, 2022, Lolo announced that the final single from PLAYGIRL which is Crazy Sexy Dream Girl would be released on October 12, 2022, just 2 days before the album's release.
On November 7, 2022, Lolo announced the PLAYGIRL World Tour on her social platforms along with dates and details to the pre-sale and general on-sale.
During the VIP PLAYGIRL Q&A session, Lolo Zouaï revealed that the album will not have a deluxe version. Lolo also revealed that there was supposed to be a 4th PLAYGIRL character named "LA PLAYGIRL" which was French but was later removed after the photoshoot for the character did not turn out great. The first 3 songs on the tracklist were also meant to represent each of the character's persona.
