Lolo Zouaï Wiki

"High Highs to Low Lows" is Lolo Zouaï's first studio album. The album's name is taken from her single High Highs to Low Lows which was the project that went viral and had seven million streams over a course of a year. Later in 2019, the album was re-released with three bonus tracks, one of them featuring rapper E-40.

Background

In Lolo Zouaï's interview with The Line of Best Fit, she talked about what the album means to her.

The album is really just the story of my life. I’m really proud of it, and it’s everything I would want in a first album, because it touches on a bunch of different sides of me, the highs and the lows, and I think it does a good job of showing those sides. And there’s a song for everyone, everyone who’s heard it has a different favourite. It just opens up the possibilities for the next one, and for potential collabs. I’m just really proud of it, my baby

She also talked about the album in an interview with V Magazine.

It’s my life. It’s really just the story of my life. There are some really positive fun songs and then there are really heartfelt songs. I think there’s something for everyone in the album. It’s more about being really authentic and telling my story through some music that slaps. It’s a mix between moody and sensual and sexy and savage. Well, maybe not savage, but confident, you know? It’s the contrast between being vulnerable and confident.

Later that year, Lolo Zouaï released the Deluxe version of the album which contains three bonus tracks. She then explained the meaning behind the release of the Deluxe on Genius.

High Highs to Low Lows is a story about my last two years. It’s crazy because “Chain” and “Money Diamonds Roses” show the change that’s happened since I put out my album in April. I’m starting to question friendships in Chain, and reconsider what really matters in “Money Diamonds Roses”. It’s not the me that has “no gold on my neck, no 0s on my check” it’s the me that has traveled the world, got my own apartment, made some money, and came all the way back home to find that the low lows never really stop. I think “Chain” and “Money Diamonds Roses” fit perfectly in the world that Stelios and I created with this album, and then I don’t even know where to start on the E-40 feature. I grew up in the Bay and he’s just one of my favorite rappers of all time. I remember meeting E-40 at his album release signing in 2012. Now I have his number and honestly there’s no one else I’d want more on my first album. If high school me heard the song she’d freak the fuck out.
