"Blue" is the 11th track on Lolo Zouaï's debut album, High Highs to Low Lows.
Background
In Lolo Zouaï's live performance in San Diego, 25 October 2018, she talked about the writing of the song which started while looking herself in the mirror.
Later in an interview with Clash Music, she talked about the inspiration and meaning behind the song:
'Blue' is the first song I put out after 'High Highs To Low Lows' and I was definitely in the “low lows” phase of this album. I had impulsively dyed my hair blue and didn’t like it very much. I woke up one morning after a late night and went to work at the restaurant. I wrote this song in the bathroom mirror
The lyrics "Staring at my white wall, the Aaliyah Poster" also refers to this image in her room.
The intro of the song also samples Eiffel 65’s Blue (Da Ba Dee) which was a major hit back in the early 2000’s.
